The Guardian Covers the HBCU RPP

The HBCU Radio Preservation Project was featured in The Guardian this week in a comprehensive piece that offers insights into the ways that HBCU radio is tied to the demands of students in the 1960s and 1970s “who worked on these channels used them to inform listeners about happenings on campus, while also playing musical selections and offering cultural programming.” Thus, making radio stations at HBCUs . . .pivotal resources for both the campus and the surrounding community.”  

Walker also explains why preservation of HBCU radio matters to broader efforts that center and celebrate Black histories, including HBCUs and Black radio.
