The HBCU Radio Preservation Symposium will be held on 12 November 2026 at Morgan State University—home to WEAA 88.9 FM in the beautiful city of Baltimore, Maryland. The symposium is being organized in partnership with Morgan State University’s School of Global Journalism, WEAA 88.9 FM, and the Earl S. Richardson Library.
This year, the project will explore how preserving HBCU radio is bound up with the culture and histories that we share and that are integral to our collective future. Institutional partners engaged directly with ensuring HBCU Radio’s legacy, including station managers and staff, archivists, scholars, preservationists, funders and community members, are invited.
