Each year, the project hires a graduate fellow and intern with the goal of providing them opportunities to learn from experienced professionals in the audio preservation and oral history fields. We recruit recent HBCU graduates for these roles, helping to infuse new energy into preservation, public history, and archiving.
The HBCU RPP Graduate Summer Internship offers a qualified graduate student the opportunity to gain real-world, practical skills in audio preservation and public history. The candidate will work alongside the project staff, including our public history team, preservation fellow and members from the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC). They will assist with the preservation of materials at HBCU radio stations and the collection of oral histories. Attending at least one professional conference, which may include serving as a presenter or panelist, and participating in the 2026 HBCU Radio Preservation Symposium in November are also part of this opportunity.
